TWIGGY RAMIREZ: MARILYN MANSON's Image Outweighed The Music
September 2, 2003Bassist Jeordie White (a.k.a. Twiggy Ramirez) recently spoke to Metal Hammer magazine about his new gig with A PERFECT CIRCLE and his departure from MARILYN MANSON.
"It's a little less unpredictable and there's a lot less danger involved — as far as comparing A PERFECT CIRCLE to MARILYN MASON is concerned," Jeordie said. "Being in MARILYN MANSON was definitely more of a lifestyle and I had to pay way more attention to image and theatrics — but this band is just a little more classy. Don't get me wrong — I have no bad words to say about MARILYN MANSON — but A PERFECT CIRCLE is definitely more focused on the music than on the attitude and image. It's not that I had a problem with the celebrity of MARILYN MANSON — it's just the fact that the celebrity and the image outweighed the music and I wasn't happy with that. It seemed to get to the point where you could capture pictures of us in celebrity magazines at a movie premiere — which had nothing to do with music. Living in Hollywood you rub shoulders with other famous people and you find yourself hanging out with your peers like Sean Penn and Johnny Depp — which is great 'cos they're cool guys — but living with fame I obtained with MARILYN MANSON I kind of personally lost perspective of why I got into this in the first place MARILYN MANSON you know MARILYN MANSON for art and music. But being part of A PERFECT CIRCLE excited me again."
